Once I have paid a lot of attention on Asian affairs. You can see that from my first two weeks blogs. Both of the two articles were about the situation of Asia-Pacific security. Especially the issues concerned with China and its neighboring countries, their attitudes, their movements and their gestures toward territorial disputes and political contest.
At first there were US navy intervened Yellow Sea, South Korea contend with China and North Korea, then there was fierce conflict between China and Japan, and now it is Vietnam and India. In fact as I mentioned in the first week, US had tried to rebuild the relation after the Vietnam war and showed a friendly gesture to Vietnam government, this was taken as a sign for a series of actions US would do to make a chain restrain to confront China’s strategy and accomplishment.
But after that period I drove my focus off the issue, and talked more about other problems like social affairs. But today after I saw the topic of the news, I cannot help to drive my attention back across the whole issue about Asia-Pacific security and peace problem, contests between countries for own benefits. Because my acute feeling on military and politics told me although it was a small piece of news, but its value could not be denied.
India is always trying to content China and get the regional control and leading capacity. One or two years ago India has chosen to cooperate with the US forces to strengthen its own military ability and political power. Then almost half a year ago, Vietnam stood on the same side of America. Now the two countries, India and Vietnam, they stand together, can reveal obviously that their cooperation is not come from no reasons. They have a hidden purpose, that is to restrain China. So now not only Vietnam, India is pursuing building good military relationships with all of the China’s neighbors, like Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, even countries lied not in the south-Asia, for example Japan and South Korea. This is a political game between two Asian giants.
Another guess is that behind India there is US, and behind Vietnam there also is US, both of the two countries, like all the other countries lie in South Asia, East Asia and Southeast Asia, they are just one step of measures of America to encounter with China.
We can see from the news that India was an active performer that it provided the biggest of the cooperation not only including the training of mountain and jungle warfare but also the maintenance of Vietnam navy warships.
At the same time China act a positive willing to establish a regional structure in order to maintain its own strategy and regional peace which is needed urgently by China because its desperate demands on developing economy. All of these made China more dangerous and unsustainable in this situation nowadays.
Have to admit, the news is very small, but its significance is of great power.

To China, this may be good news, “US may lift Chinese arms embargo”, but to many people who have been hold China as a main threat in their mind, America’s movement this time will make them more terrified.
Yes, Xinhua October 11 released the news that after 21 years of arms embargo against China, President Obama requested on Saturday to ease restrictions on the sale of cargo aircraft to Beijing, this could be seen as a tending sign to the restrain policy.
At the beginning of the news, it attached a picture showed the protagonist of the international event, the C-130 cargo aircraft. The front part of the news comprised a particular and detailed introduction of the aircraft. Two paragraphs were used to introduce it. Is it necessary to write so many words on the conditions of the craft in the news? I think the introduction here is very coherent and important. That is because only to tell the audiences the condition and the significance of this style aircraft first, then they can understand why we take the selling of C-130 so seriously. Why we make it as a sign of turning point to predict the future tendency of the relationship between China and America.
And then the news reviewed the similar selling and cooperation happened between these two countries in history. So any dealings or negotiations concerning with weapon trades or technology cooperation will arouse wide attention, sometimes even criticism and protests from various countries. Especially this time, though the C-130 has been put in use foe decades of years, it still has been used vastly in various military actions and exercises. In fact, China doesn’t have any kind of aircraft can defeat C-130 even at present while C-130 has been invented by US for almost 50 years. So whether to sell it to China is of great significance. China's flag raised in Wall Street

Another long news story I red recently. At the first glance I thought it may be a financial story, but then I was surprised when I began to read the text because I was misled by this news’ topic. It said “China’s flag raised in Wall Street”, especially the “Wall Street”, naturally led people to think this would be a financial news story which concerned China’s development on economy and their commercial accomplishment. And that was exactly what I thought primarily.
In fact, this was a story focused on the celebration of the 61st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It used writing about a ceremony to draw audiences’ attention to the Sino-US relationship and Chinese culture.
This piece of news story was totally different from my other chosen readings before, because it attached many relevant news photos. This method endued the story with vividly and gusto. Also revealed this was not a hard writing but a news story lean to interest. At the first place, there was a photo which attached by a piece of commendatory. In the picture, it showed many people, Chinese and foreigners standing in the street, Wall Street, together, waving small flags, China’s national flags or US national flags. The second picture showed people were dancing in front of the flags, to celebrate. The third one showed a woman. She might be a conductor, was leading a band to perform congratulant music or national anthem. According to the introduction, this was the flag-raising ceremony. We could see from the photo, after the woman, a Chinese national flag was rising higher and higher. The last picture almost showed the same scene, but in this picture, the most emphasizing spot is the statue of Charging Bull, it was one of the New York City’s icons, also stood for Wall Street, which is the most famous financial district of all the world.
It also provided interlinks of related readings in this news story. But this time, these relevant readings were not so “relevant”. I thought this was unacceptable especially when it appeared on a formal official news web site. It uncovered the editors’ and writer’s carelessness and the sense of lack of responsibility.

Boat sunk by S. Korean cargo ship, crew missing

What was most important was that it gave the specific details of the accident, included the exact location and time, especially a very little detail which illustrated a key factor that is the accident spot was close to South Korea while the boat belonged to China.
Another crucial factor was the whole crew of the Chinese fishing boat went missing immediately after the accident took place. It meant this was a severe accident may lead to many deaths. And deaths will always be un-tolerant to any countries. Until the news came out, the exact number of the victim sailors was not available. But in the news they didn’t explain why there was no statistics about the deaths.
The rest part of the news was only covered the reaction of the Chinese government and a brief introduction about the rescue which was launched by South Korea. No other further specific and particular words were made. This may be the biggest flaw of this piece of news because the part which was not mentioned was just the very part people were urgent to know, was just the very part arouse people’s attention, was just the very part made the news more valuable.
